Description This is a fun, forested singletrack climb to a great, fast, flowing descent through the trees. The high point of the trail is marked by a six-foot dead tree stump having two metal diamond shaped markers. Approximately 2.5 miles from the trailhead you will come to remnants of an old log cabin on the left (see “Rustic Cabin” photo on the right). Available to hikers, bikers, horseback riders & cross country skiing, the 5.5 mile Burning Bear Trail (#601) follows Burning Bear Creek west from Geneva Creek, over a ridge and down Lamping Creek on the west side of the ridge. The trail climbs sharply from an elevation of about 9,600 feet at either end to a high point of about 10,800 in the middle.
